In addition to research and writing my own papers, I greatly enjoy editorial work. My philosophy is to promote the most promising fields of science and make publication process efficient and clean. As a referee, I worked for >60 scientific journals and for Oxford University Press (let alone many funding agencies and faculty promotion committees).
In 2006-2010 I was an Associate Editor of American Mineralogist. Since 2009 I am a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Superhard Materials, and since 2011 I am on the Editorial Advisory Board of Scientific Reports, a new Nature-group journal.
I've organized and edited a number of thematic Special Issues:
in Zeitschrift fur Kristallographie (2005: "Computational Crystallography", which has become a citation classic with thousands of citations within several years)
in the Journal of Superhard Materials (2010: "Theory of Hardness and Superhard Materials", 2011: "Boron and Boron-rich Solids",, 2012: "Superhard carbon", 2014: "Novel Aspects of Superhard Materials" - these have quickly made this new international journal a major forum).
and in Acta Crystallographica C (2014: Special Issue "Computational Materials Discovery")
In 2010 on request of Wiley-VCH I organized and edited a unique book project "Modern Methods of Crystal Structure Prediction". This is the first and still (as of June 2012) the only comprehensive and self-contained book on this revolutionary topic, and the book quickly gained wide readership around the world.
I have more editorial ideas for the future...
